Quick & Easy Kitchen Towel Holder

Do you have scrap balls of yarn that you just don't know what to do with?  Why not make something useful? Whether for yourself, family member, or even for others. These are great quick projects for craft fairs as well.

Materials Needed:

Scrap Yarn

5.00 MM Crochet Hook

1/2 inch Button

Yarn Needle

1.90 MM Crochet Hook ( Or needle and thread to sew button on) * I used 1.90 MM Crochet hook to guide yarn through the button holes. -- If you don't have one, Don't go buy one, just use needle and thread / Or embroidery thread of close color to your project to sew button on

Abbreviations / Stitches used:

CH- Chain

SC - Single Crochet

HDC - Half Double Crochet

DC - Double Crochet

SLST - Slip Stitch

ST - Stitch

* - Repeat * - * for rest of row

(photo below shows size of ball I started with)

And as you can see, I still have decent amount left to make another, if not two more from this yarn scrap ball (See photo below)

Ok - Lets get started

Making the Circle Ring

Ch 24 + 1(Turning Chain) - Leave about a 5 inch tail as we will be weaving this piece into position to sew button on when we are all done -

Working in back loop of your chain - Will give you a nice finished edge

- 2 HDC in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next st

- *2 HDC(in one st), HDC* Slst to join, Ch 2

(Progress Photo Below)

The strap -

Row 1 - DC, HDC, SC next 5 sts, HDC, DC (9 sts)

Row 2 through 14 - HDC across (9 sts) Ch 1, Turn

Row 15 - Sc across but on the 5th sc only  drop down just below where you would normally place hook and place hook in space under the bottom yarn like shown in 2 photos below

Photo belies shows how it should look - this is to help open up your stitch to form button hole. (Complete your row of sc with normal sc as you did in beginning of row) tie off and weave in end.

With the tail from beginning of your circle, thread your yarn needle with tail, Grabbing the bottom loop of your circle where they meet and connect to make your circle complete

Move your yarn up to the top of the middle of your first full row of HDC on your strap as shown in photo below.

Connect button, weave in rest of your tail.
